Advancing Human-Relevant Tumor Models at the 14th Tumor Models Summit Boston

Daxiang Biotech joined the 14th Tumor Models Summit Boston, held July 29–30, 2026, alongside researchers and industry leaders working to advance more predictive and translationally relevant models for oncology drug development.

As cancer therapies become increasingly complex, the need for preclinical models that better reflect human tumor biology and the tumor microenvironment continues to grow. This year’s summit brought together perspectives from across pharma, biotech, and academia, with discussions spanning model selection, tumor–immune interactions, patient-derived systems, and emerging approaches to improving translation from preclinical research to the clinic.

For Daxiang Biotech, the meeting provided an opportunity to share our latest work in patient-derived organoid-on-chip models and explore how human-relevant systems can contribute to more informed decision-making in oncology research and drug development.

Patient-Derived Organoid-on-Chip Models for Translational Immuno-Oncology

At the summit, Daxiang Biotech presented the scientific poster:

“Patient-Derived Organoid-on-Chip Models for Translational Immuno-Oncology and IND-Supporting Studies.”

The poster highlighted the application of patient-derived organoid-on-chip models across multiple areas of immuno-oncology, including CAR-T therapies, T-cell engagers, tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), and tumor–immune interactions.

By integrating patient-derived organoids with organ-on-chip technology, these models are designed to recreate key aspects of the human tumor microenvironment while enabling controlled and reproducible experimental conditions. This provides a more physiologically relevant setting for investigating therapeutic response and complex interactions between tumor cells, immune cells, and other components of the tumor microenvironment.

The work also highlighted the application of organoid-on-chip models in IND-supporting preclinical studies, demonstrating how advanced human-relevant models can extend beyond exploratory research and contribute to translational drug development.

From Better Models to Better Translational Decisions

A key theme throughout the summit was the need for tumor models that combine biological relevance with the reproducibility required for drug development. Patient-derived organoid-on-chip technologies offer a promising approach by bringing together patient-derived biology and controlled, engineered microenvironments to support more informed preclinical and translational decisions.
